This is an epitome of our community: apartments, buses, boutiques, salons. . .
Our living environment is an outcome of consumption when things become our consumed objects. Everyday we spend according to our wish, buying goods in shapes, colours and materials we favour. Such commodities reveal one’s taste and inclination. They even help to get a glimpse of a person’s character and psychological status.
In this piece of art, I hope to bring out my fantasy and memory of Hong Kong through the transformation and re-presentation of the things around me – a subject of the consumption activities. It is a vision of the past, present and future.
It is my dream world derived from my home city.

這是一個社區的縮影。居室、巴士、時裝店、髮型屋…
當物件成為消費的對象,物件組成的環境反映了消費的結果。我們每天以自己的意願消費,購買自己喜歡的形狀、顏色、材質…這些物件顯示了個人的品味及取向,甚至可窺見自身的性格及心理狀況。
透過自身對四周物件的轉化及呈現,帶出對香港的幻想和回憶,是過去、現在和未來的想像,是以出生地衍生出來的幻想世界。

This is a classical scene from the Wu Xia (martial art) films of 1970s “Holy Flame of the Martial World”. Two fighters fought each other with their weapons “Holy Flame” which suddenly rose to the sky. The “Holy Flame” moved and attacked each other with power and light came from the fighters’ hands: brighter means stronger.
The weapon shows the relationship of light and power and represents the imagination of the Chinese who tries to visualize the invisible spirit in Chinese culture.

這是七十年代古裝片的經典場面。兩位武林高手互相出招比試,他們手中的“武林聖火令”立刻飛上半空,它們隨著主人手心發出的一股火焰般的光舞動和攻擊對手,力量越大,光芒越強……
作品中的兩件兵器“武林聖火令”欲呈現一些不可見的光及強大的力量,體現中國文化中“氣”的象徵意義。我們可以看見中國人的想象力,把力量透過光線形象化。

屏風共有八屏,左右兩邊各有一組附設有人物的聖火令,其餘六屏的LED燈則按次序閃動,代表相方對戰時的情況。

Everyday, piles and piles of white paper are sent in. But so soon they are all swallowed by the copiers and the printers. Where in hell will they go when their bright faces are transformed? 
In a mockup office, we are staff no more. From a third person’s point of view we can rediscover the transformation status of the paper. Let’s see how many we have destroyed in haste, and how many we have really made good use of.

每天一叠叠送進來的白紙,很快便被影印機、列印機吞吃,當亮白的紙張被改變了容貌,它們將何去何從?
在模擬的辦公室裏,大家不再是職員,而是以觀者的身份去重新發現紙張被變換的狀況,察看在忙亂中我們毁掉多少紙張?又有多少是被好好利用?
